Since 2013 KAPE Boatworks Inc. has built and sold over 20 Martin 16 sailboats. It is a partnership comprised of Karen-Ann Xavier and Paula Stone. Karen-Ann has been a long-time volunteer in the Able Sail community in Toronto and Paula with the Quebec Adapted Sailing Association (AQVA-Montreal).
The boats are being built in Quebec by Voile Sansoucy, former builder of the Mystère catamarans and many other boats under contract. They have made flight simulator shells and currently produce float plane floats, as well as many other fibreglass products.
Karen-Ann and Paula have worked closely with the company to make a number of improvements to the boat based on their combined experience.
KAPE Boatwork's mission is to support the development of adaptive sailing programs that promote the independence, well-being and quality of life of people with disabilities.
